The Correlation Between Global Longitudinal Strain by Speckle Tracking Echocardiography and Coronary Angiogram Finding in Patients with Suspected Chronic Stable Angina Pectoris

Jaffna Medical Journal  ·  Volume 36, Issue 2  ·  December 2024  ·  DOI: 10.4038/jmj.v36i2.221  ·  Submitted: June 2024  ·  Accepted: November 2024

Multi-centre study across Teaching Hospital Kandy, District General Hospital Trincomalee (T. Jeevaraj), and Teaching Hospital Jaffna. Evaluated whether Global Longitudinal Strain (GLS) by speckle-tracking echocardiography predicts significant coronary artery disease in patients with chronic stable angina and normal LV function. Study of 78 patients demonstrated that lower GLS values were significantly associated with CAD severity; GLS cutoff of −19 showed useful diagnostic performance.
